Phase 1: Surface Preparation/Grinding
Thorough surface preparation is critical and one of the key elements to a flawless epoxy and concrete coating. At BOWBAR Epoxy, we take the time to make sure it's done right the first time. We won't start applying our concrete coating system until we've done all the work to make sure your floor has passed our Quality Surface Preparation Inspection, which includes the following quality standards:
Concrete is PH tested and has a PH within 6.5-9.9 for optimal adhesion
Surface is fully cleaned, free of any loose dirt and debris
Concrete diamond grinding is complete, exposing the pores or the concrete surface
All large cracks have been prepped, creating a valley in the surface to be filled with patching compound
All chips and/or cracks are filled with a commercial grade two-part patching compound.
Entire surface is evenly coated with a moisture and vapor barrier primer, no untreated areas exist
Phase 2: Epoxy / Polyaspartic System Application
We believe that epoxy and concrete coatings are art and and we want your floor to be a masterpiece! We apply our epoxy, polyurethane, and polyaspartic concrete coating systems with the greatest attention to detail to make sure the final result exceeds your expectations. Once we've installed the multi-layered concrete coating system, we'll perform a Quality Application Inspection to ensure everything is up to the BOWBAR standard before we leave your floor to dry. Our Quality Application Inspection includes the following standards and checks:
Entire surface is evenly coated with pigmented polyurethane and/or vinyl chip flooring.
Entire surface is evenly coated with a polyurethane or polyaspartic topcoat
Cove bases (if any) are firmly adhered to the wall with no visible gaps
Surface is flat with no visible cracking or rising
Surface and coves are free from running, dripping, or streaking in the coating application
Edges and trim are applied neat and straight without significant deviation
Work area is barricaded with proper signage to prevent accidental entry during the drying process
Work area is clean and tidy, with no waste remaining
Phase 3: Final Results
Once the application is complete, we'll return to perform a final walk-through and Quality Results Inspection with you to make sure you're satisfied with the end result. We take pride in our work and back it with a Workmanship Guarantee and 10 Year Protection Warranty. We won't count a project as complete until it passes our Quality Results Inspection, which includes the following checks/standards:
Entire surface of the Concrete Coating is fully dried and cured to the touch
Concrete Coating is free from cracks, chips, drips, or running
Pigment and/or vinyl chips are evenly and consistently applied with no visible discoloration
Work area is cleaned to the original state or better with no remnants, waste or dust left behind.
